Sweet almond oil comes from the nuts of Prunus dulcis. It is an excellent emollient, known for its ability to soften and recondition skin. It is rich in proteins and extremely nourishing, soothing dry skin and irritated areas. It is a favorite of massage therapists as a slow-absorbing, lightweight moisturizer.

The aroma of Almond Aloe is soft and sweet, nutty and floral. The scent was inspired by orgeat (pronounced or-zhat), an almond syrup used in classic cocktails such as the Mai Tai. Above and beyond our moisturizing base, we've added sweet almond oil and aloe vera. The creamy lather leaves skin soft from head to toe. To remove oils and impurities from your skin, we've added micronized Rhassoul clay. It serves as a natural, gentle exfoliant.

We have created this complex scent and beautiful color using six essential oils and pure henna oil. This bar has been years in the making because genuine rose oil would be far too costly to use in a soap and our products never contain synthetic fragrance oils. The henna oil we use is different from the powdered henna used for hair color and decorative skin art. We have not seen any sign of staining on skin or washcloths. When the Missouri Botanical Garden asked us to create an exclusive bar honoring its 150th anniversary, we crafted this uniquely herbal and peppery soap. We tested many blends of plant oils to develop the bars sophisticated fragrance. When we were finally satisfied, we sent a bar to perfumer Thierry Masson of La Rochelle, France, to evaluate the scent. He wrote back enthusiastically. This bar has good balance, its woody, fresh and spicy. Each ingredient of the soap reflects the Gardens mission to discover and share knowledge about plants and their environment.
