The lemony, floral notes of our Italian Bergamot bar come from essential oil of bergamot, extracted from the peel of an orange-like citrus fruit that grows in southern Italy along the Mediterranean coast. The bergamot essential oil we use is bergaptene free so theres no problem in regards to sun exposure. The soft, spicy scents in the soap come from lavender and clove, which blend with the bergamot to make an especially fresh and clean aroma. We add hemp seed oil as a skin softener. Aromatherapists believe that bergamot perks you up when you feel stress and anxiety. We think you will enjoy this delightfully fragrant soap.

The basis of our Brown Windsor soap comes from Perfumery and Kindred Arts, a Comprehensive Treatise on Perfumery by Richard Cristiani, published in Philadelphia in 1877. Even then, the author referred to the recipe as Old Brown Windsor Soap. The original soap was made in Windsor, England, and exported around the world. Brown Windsor was said to be a favorite of Napoleon, a notorious lover of scent. Cristianis recipe called for lavender, bergamot, caraway, petitgrain, cinnamon, and clove. We tested various proportions of these essential oils and chose the blend we found most satisfying.

In color and scent, Rosy Bouquet comes closest to the fresh bloom of a pink rose. It is musky, sweet, spicy, and heady. We have created this complex scent and beautiful color using six essential oils and pure henna oil. This bar has been years in the making because genuine rose oil would be far too costly to use in a soap and our products never contain synthetic fragrance oils. The henna oil we use is different from the powdered henna used for hair color and decorative skin art. We have not seen any sign of staining on skin or washcloths. You’ll find this bar to be a joy because not only does it smell delightful but also it is extra moisturizing. The smooth bar has no added texture and makes a silky, creamy lather.
